A NOTE FROM US ABOUT BLACK WOMEN

As March 1st marks the end of Black History Month and the beginning of Women's History Month, we want spotlight Black women. Within the realm of Hueman Sol's inclusive celebration of diverse hues, today, Black Women Appreciation Day, is dedicated to the singular acknowledgment of the elegance and resilience inherent in Black womanhood. These individuals, who embody the intricate genetic mosaic shaping the very narrative of this nation, are regrettably situated as the most marginalized and underrepresented demographic in the United States.

The multifaceted challenges that Black women navigate converge at the crossroads of racism and sexism, giving rise to a nuanced tapestry of tribulations that include microaggressions, biases, and overt discrimination. According to the "Women in the Workplace" report by McKinsey & Company and LeanIn.Org (2020), Black women make up only 1.6% of C-suite executives. On average, they earn about 62 cents for every dollar earned by white men (National Women's Law Center).

Black women may face disparities in mental health care, including stigma and limited access to culturally competent mental health services. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) reports that only 1 in 3 Black adults who need mental health care receives it. A study by the Environmental Working Group found that personal care products marketed to Black women contain more harmful ingredients than those marketed to the general public. This includes ingredients linked to hormone disruption, allergies, and other health concerns. A report by the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media found that Black women were the least likely group to be featured in beauty ads, despite having a buying power of over $1.5 trillion annually.

Even amongst the diversity, Black women are a radiant force, embodying resilience, intelligence, and beauty that knows no bounds. Their strength is a testament to the richness of their character, propelling them to excel as leaders, nurturers, and visionaries. With grace and purpose, Black women contribute immeasurably to the world, inspiring others with their unwavering spirit and profound impact.

Today, we take this moment to pause, reflect, and salute the fortitude and beauty of Black women. To honor this day, we're offering 31% off our 8oz Sol Butter jars now through the weekend by using code: BEAUTY31 when you checkout.
